Mangalore: Fire Damages Workshop - One injured, Three Cars Gutted

Mangalore, Oct 14: A workshop located near Shivanagar in Pandeshwar in the city suffered extensive damages, after a liquid petroleum gas cylinder that reportedly had developed leakage, burst into flames, injuring a person seriously. The incident occurred at about 10 am on Wednesday October 14.
 
The workshop, ‘Star Garage,’ located at the sixth cross of Shivanagar here, which is owned by a person named Samad Vajid Hassan, bore the brunt of this fire accident. The injured man is a worker of the garage, identified as Asif (18), who has been admitted into a hospital in the city, with severe burn injuries.

 
Three cars kept in the garage for servicing and repairs were also burnt down in the incident. The fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and doused the flames.
 
A person who claimed to be residing in the locality in which the above incident occurred, alleged that the workshop was functioning without any licence and that it had faced objections at the time it was opened. But the negligence of the city corporation staff allowed the workshop to continue with its activities, he added.
