Rs 100,000 in counterfeit currency seized in Haryana


Chandigarh, Feb 3 (IANS): Counterfeit currency with face value of Rs 100,000 has been seized from two people in Haryana's Sirsa district, police said on Monday.

A police spokesperson said a joint team of Crime Investigation Agency and Sirsa police, on a tip off, seized 168 currency notes in denomination of Rs 500 and eight notes in denomination of Rs 2,000 from two persons.

The accused were identified as Baljit, a resident of Sirsa, and Babbu of Mansa district in Punjab.

In another incident, the police has seized 31 gram of heroin and arrested five people, including two women, from Dabwali area.

They have been identified as Kulvinder Singh, Khuswinder Singh, Jitender Kumar, Anty and Poonam Rani.
