Kasargod: Four Teenagers Drown - Tragedy Strikes Family on Deepavali

Kasargod, Oct 18: Tragedy struck a family on the day of Deepavali when four boys, three of them siblings, drowned at Barakkad river of Eruthumkkadavu, Uchamkode here in the district on Saturday October 17.

Police said Ajith (13), Abhilash (15), Ajish (16), three siblings and Ratankumar (15), the siblings’ cousin were caught in a swift current when ventured to have a bath in the Barikkad river on Saturday as it was a holiday. The deceased Abhilash and Ratankumar as well as Ajith were the students std X and std VIII, respectively of the Neerchal Mahajana Sanskrit High School. Ajish had completed his SSLC last year.















While the three siblings are the sons of couple Narayanan and Laxmi from Eruthumkkadavu, Ratankumar is the son of Raghavan and Sharathkumari couple. Raghavan is Narayanan’s brother. The bodies were fished out by the fire force personnel and local people and have been kept at Kasargod General Hospital for postmortem, police added. Local MP P Karunakaran and MLA C T Ahmed Ali among others too rushed to the hospital.
