Kashmiri youth's death in Rajasthan, not hate crime: Police


Srinagar, Feb 7 (IANS): A 19-year-old Kashmiri boy was killed in Rajasthan after a fight broke out with his colleagues, police said.

According to reports Ghulam Mohideen alias Basit from the Kunan village in Kashmir's Kupwara worked as a caterer in the Rajasthan capital in Harmada.

Unlike reports in a section of the media,Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kupwara Ambarkar Shriram Dinakar told IANS "This is not a case of hate crime."

"It was a case of rivalry between two catering agencies." The victim had recently left his catering agency in Jaipur and joined a new one.

A post-mortem of the body was being done on Friday. Some of the family members have gone to Rajasthan to bring home the body.

According to police FIR has been filed and the accused have been arrested.
