Police busts JeM module in Srinagar, 3 arrested


Srinagar, Feb 7 (IANS): The J&K Police on Friday claimed to have busted a Jaish-e-Mohammad module involved in a grenade throwing incident at the Lal Chowk here last Sunday by arresting three JeM men, including the nephew of former PDP legislator Khalil Bandh.

According to the police, the arrest of the three terrorist associates was made after receiving credible inputs.

The three have been identified as Naveed-Ul-Lateef Padroo, Shakeel Ahmad Bandh, residents of Pulwama and Shamshad Manzoor, resident of Shopian.

As per police reports, they were linked to proscribed terror outfit JeM and were involved in the recent grenade explosion at Partap Park, Lal Chowk. According to the police they had established links with terrorists across the border in Pakistan using the Internet and VPN. And on the direction of Pakistan-based terrorist Shaheen, they were extending terror networks in the Valley.

Investigations also revealed that Shakeel was communicating with Pakistani terrorist Shaheen and sought the assistance of Naveed and Shamshad for carrying out terror attacks in Srinagar.
