How can 4-month-old go to protest at Shaheen Bagh: SC

New Delhi, Feb 10 (IANS): The Supreme Court on Monday, taking suo motu cognizance on the death of a four-month-old, said how could an infant go to protest at Shaheen Bagh, and also how could mothers support this.

A bench headed by Chief Justice S.A. Bobde issued notice on suo-motu plea to "stop involvement of children and infants in demonstrations".

A group of women from Shaheen Bagh through lawyer contended before the top court that even Greta Thunberg was a child when she became a protester, and raised concerns on children from the area being called Pakistani in schools. The Chief Justice queried the counsels, how could a four-month-old go to the protest site, and how could mothers justify this.

The Chief Justice told the counsel not to make irrelevant arguments on someone calling a child Pakistani in school, NRC, CAA or detention camps.

"In this proceeding, we are considering the death of a four-month-old child." said the Chief Justice.

"We respect motherhood, social peace. Don't make arguments to generate guilt...", added the Chief Justice.

The apex court had taken cognizance of a letter by a 12-yr-old national bravery award winner, who wrote to the Chief Justice following the death of a 4-month-old infant allegedly due to exposure to cold as he was taken to the venue of the anti-CAA protest at Shaheen Bagh.

Pathetic condition of our country. Women, minorities and dalits are on the streets, protesting against the draconian laws. Students are on the streets, protesting. Yet turning a blind eye to this, the Apex court has taken suo moto the case of a four month old infant. Who will tell the apex court that the lives of millions who are fighting for their existence on the streets are valuable. Will the court allow the lives of millions to get annihilated?

If there are so many protesting against the central government, how is it that the prinicpal opposition party cannot even get 19% even after anti incumbancy. The fact of the matter is there is a miniscule population ,which is paid to create an issue when there is none. It is so very evident that none of the protestors nor their leaders can articulate a problem. How can they, when there is no issue.

That's why man made laws are nonsensical. Small child considered with mother in every marrittal despute and other cases but here some judges are trying to protect modi shah approach . If judges are so interested in supporting modi regime then why can't they take VRS.

Is Judges can't even think for a moment that its the mother went to protest and can't leave the baby alone at home.

The essence court needs to see the cause of Protest rather than such statement.
