'Several Boko Haram leaders killed in air strike'

Lagos, Feb 10 (IANS): The Nigerian Air Force on Monday said it carried out an air strike and killed several Boko Haram leaders in the restive northeast state of Borno.

Fighter jets obliterated a compound in a settlement where Boko Haram leaders assembled for a meeting on Saturday, Xinhua quoted Nigerian Air Force (NAF) spokesman Ibikunle Daramola's statement.

The operation also destroyed surrounding structures and "neutralised" their Boko Haram occupants, the spokesperson said without specifying the number of Boko Haram fighters killed or injured.

Daramola did not identify the Boko Haram leaders killed in the air strike.
