Mangalore, Oct 23 (DHNS): Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district Muslim Central Committee President and former MLC K S Mohammed Masood has stated that there is nothing called ‘Love Jehad’ in Islam, and the one creating headlines in media is just a creation of vested interests.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he said the entire Muslim community has been shocked at the word “Love Jehad” and it wonders from where the concept cropped up. “There are communal interests behind the plot to spoil the image of Muslims who do not tolerate their progress. A section of media is cooperating with them,” he alleged. “There have been no forcible conversions to Islam also. Islam does not encourage forcible conversions. Even though somebody voluntarily wants to be converted into Islam, there is a legal process,” he said. Masood said if at all some Muslims are involved in plots like Love Jehad, they should be punished. Even though the police heads of both Karnataka and Kerala have stated that there has been nothing called Love Jehad in their states, some vested interests are creating a turmoil, he added.
The Muslum Central Committee will be organising a convention in this connection in November with the participation of religious leaders, heads of educational institutions and intellectuals, he informed.
Bantwal incident
The Committee member Hamid Kandak said one Anitha from Bantwal was missing for some time and it had been alleged that she had been converted by Love Jehad activists.
“There was even a protest in front of Bantwal police station on October 11. But now police themselves have revealed that Anitha was murdered by serial killer Mohan Kumar who was arrested on Wednesday. This incident itself shows how strategically Muslims are being targeted,” he said.
