Mangalore: Anuradha Dhareshwar Bags 'Kalaakar Puraskar–2009’

Mangalore, Oct 23: Anuradha Dhareshwar from Dharwad was chosen by the selection committee of ‘Mandd Sobhann’, for the ‘Thomas Stephen’s Konkanni Kendr Carvalho Gharanne Kalaakaar Puraskar–2009’, in recognition of her unique contribution to Konkani music.

Every year, a distinguished Konkani artiste from Karnataka is chosen for this award which consists of a cash prize of Rs 25,000, a citation letter, and a trophy.  

This is the fifth year that the award is being presented.  The former recipients of this award are—Arun Raj Rodrigues (theatre), Joel Pereira (music), Harry D’Souza (brass band), and Fr Charles Vas (devotional music).

The award will be presented by Fr George Santhumayer, superior of Carmelites, Bikarnakatta, during the 95th monthly theater at 6.00 pm on Sunday November 1 at Kalaangann, here. 

Sidhanath Buyao and his troupe from Goa will stage an exclusive show on the occasion.
