AAP won, bluff and bluster lost: Chidambaram taunts BJP on Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 11 (IANS): Former Finance Minister and senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram on Tuesday taunted the BJP over its defeat in the Delhi assembly elections saying AAP won and the "bluff and bluster" lost. He said the people of Delhi have defeated the polarising and divisive agenda of the saffron party.

In a tweet, Chidambaram said, "AAP won, bluff and bluster lost. The people of Delhi, who are from all parts of India, have defeated the polarising, divisive and dangerous agenda of the BJP.

"I salute the people of Delhi who have set an example to other states that will hold their elections in 2021 and 2022," he said.

Chidambaram was referring to polarisation in Delhi ahead of the assembly polls following the passage of anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Last month, there were three incidents of firing near the anti-CAA protest site in Delhi's Shaheen Bagh and Jamia Millia Islamia University area, in which a student was injured.

The February 8 polling in Delhi saw 62.59 per cent turnout.

As per the latest trends, the AAP is set to retain power in Delhi as it is leading in over 62 seats, while the BJP was leading in eight. The Congress, on the other hand, once again has drawn a blank in the city, which it ruled for 15 years from 1998 to 2013.

There is no surprise in Congress not winning a single seat as they won no seat in the last elections. But the MoSha (read as sa in kannada) Party which fought the elections like the General Election could manage only single digit. They deputed more than 200 MPs and MoSha were on field with 'Goli Maro' Company. Yet could not do anything. Kejriwal's broom proved stronger than 'Goli Maro Company'. This is the reality.

Your party my party logic used by the BJP wont work here. There is only one people's enemy and that is the BJP. It does not matter who wins as long as the BJP is finished in the country. That is more important. The politics of divisiveness and hate should have no place in our country.
The poor, working class, students and semi literate masses of Delhi have shown the way, whereas the so called rich and the middle class educated people sit back in their living rooms and clubs and are the main proponents of communal and divisive politics. Our so called highly educated coastal districts are ample proof of that. The only hope for our democracy are the poor people of India. They are the real shield of democracy against divisive forces.
