Bangalore: Infosys Employee Causes Flight to be Grounded Through Bomb Scare

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Oct 26: A software professional named Abhishek Gupta(25) from UP, employed with software major Infosys in the city, was arrested from New Delhi domestic airport on Sunday October 25, for calling up the call centre of GoAir to create a bomb hoax and getting their city-bound flight from New Delhi delayed.

Abhishek was to catch the GoAir flight from New Delhi to the city scheduled to leave on Sunday October 25 morning. But Gorkhnath Express, the train he had caught to reach New Delhi, was running late. The flight was scheduled to leave at 8.45 am and the train, which was to reach New Delhi as per its time table, by 6 am, was inordinately delayed. Gupta, who was determined to reach the city on the same day and anxious that he would miss the flight, at first, called up the GoAir call centre to ask them to reschedule his journey and accommodate him on a later flight the same day. But, after his request was turned down, a desperate Gupta called the call centre again, saying that some suspicious object had been planted in the GoAir flight bound for Bangalore.

The flight, G8201, was grounded thereafter, and all the 164 passengers were asked to get down. The dog disposal squad, which was then pressed into service, could not find anything suspicious in the flight. Gupta, in the meantime, reached the airport at around 9.30 am and requested for the boarding pass. This aroused suspicion in the minds of the counter staff, and upon intensive questioning, Gupta confessed to have made the call, police officials said.

He was arrested and charged under different sections of Indian Penal Code. Infosys HR head, Mohandas Pai, said that investigations were on about the incident and the company would take appropriate action against the employee, if he is found to be guilty.

Mohan, what you have said would be the thinking of Aussies, to send back the Indians back to where they belong. What do you feel now? So, no Indian should go anywhere? No place is perfect, you have to make it perfect. You cannot judge Infosys on the basis of one person, or a state on the basis of one person. What the guy has done is shameful, and will be dealt with. You should not be narrow minded and start judging on the basis of place of birth. A child doesn't know where he getting born, though the surroundings affect his thinking. Every individual should have the conscience of judging right or wrong, after he gets old. The north Indians have not started hating the western Indian people, because of the narrow mindedness of some people. There is love for all, we are all human and we make mistakes, and get the returns for what we do.

There is no need for you to express your animosity towards other state people in this forum. Why on hell people like you always drift the subject to divide the people of our country? Be sensible.

This shows that even the high qualification cannot change the mentality of a stupid and cunning person in some cases. its true that "Karele ke jhaad per Aam nahin lagte". But I will request the commentators not to pull the Jihad, crusade or Regional Remarks in such issues. This is will be not only a deviation but dilute the seriousness of the matter.

Mr Lancelot Tauro/Qatar, why are you misusing the word "jehad" like islamic extremists are using. Its a total sacred and devine word and its has its own devine sanctity. Please refrain from making fun of this word. In using this word as a mockery or using it in line with islamic extremists, you are not less than a hoax. Please google out and you will come to know the true meaning of jehad.. NOw you are in Qatar, you can approach any ilamic scholar who will enlighten you on jehad. To give an example of how its devine and holy... a mother who delivers a baby with lot of birth pangs and labour is jehad. Jehad means to strive. If she dies in the process, she is martyred. Same way if a person is seeking his livelihood in legal means and facing difficulties and hardship, its also a jehad. Jehad is nothing but to strive for a cause... Please start respecting that word after going through the proper meaning of it.

Most stupid thing a person can do causing anxiety to one and allto think a guy working in info system will do is unimaginable.does he not think that train can be late ? the trip with delhi traffic will take lot of time . He should have booked for a later flight if available. if not if it was the only no frill flight he should have booked flight one day earlier and reached bangalore and taken rest one day before joining duty..

I will not show mercy for him law should take its own course and he should be punished . I am sure he is an educated idiot. Did he ever think that due to his shenagnan some one was late and missed his journey for some important function because he missed his flight.

Shame on him, as for the job at info system they probably have their own code of coduct inside and out side the job area and they should apply it. Info system has some reputation internationally and nationally. This guy forefeited his trust , it does not matter it was related to job.Bomb hoax ( in this case ) a suspicious imaginary object in plane is entirely unacceptable by this stupid educated person.
