Karnataka Orders CID Probe into 'Love Jehad' Cases

Bangalore, Oct 26:  With `Love Jehad,’ the new weapon of Muslim fundamentalists to lure non-Muslim girls into marriage and conversion to Islam gaining widespread media coverage and even legal scrutiny, the BJP government in Karnataka has ordered a Crime Investigation Department (CID) probe into the menace.

Karnataka home minister Dr V S Acharya, who held a high-level meeting of senior police officials, told reporters after the meeting that the Director General of Police (DGP), CID, has been asked to conduct a thorough investigation into the entire situation and submit a report within the next 15 days.

 The meeting, which held a detailed discussion on the alleged incidents of `love jehad’ in Karnataka and Kerala, decided in favour of a CID probe in the background of the a recent order of Karnataka High Court to investigate such incidents.

Dr Acharya said a decision has been taken to collect full details about the funding, support and the existence of ‘love jehad.’

Apart from collecting information about missing girls, the DGP, CID would also gather information on the menace, including details from Kerala and submit a report to the government suggesting measures to be taken to curb it, the minister said.

The probe will also focus on whether girls were being lured for conversion, any organisation was promoting such activities and to find out who is behind it. After receiving the report, the government would decide the course of action to be initiated to check `love jehad’, he said.

It may be recalled that the Karnataka High Court during the hearing on a Habeas Corpus petition filed by the parents of a girl, who married a Muslim boy from Kannur district in Kerala, had alleged that the girl was confined in a madrasa in Kerala’s Mallapuram town, had directed Karnataka and Kerala governments to jointly probe the ‘jehad’ and file a report before November 13.

The Kerala High Court had also recently directed the Kerala government to provide information on ‘love jehad’, sarcastically asking whether the movement was `Love Jehad’ or `Romeo Jehad’ to convert innocent and gullible girls from other religions to Islam.

 However, the People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) has decided to file a writ petition in the Supreme Court challenging the Karnataka High Court’s order asking a woman who had converted to Islam to marry a Muslim man from Kerala, to return to her parents’ home until the case was investigated.

'It would amount to curtailing individual freedom to marry or practice any religion,’’ the PUCL said..

      WHOSOEVER IT MAY BE CONCERNED. What a phony and loose talks you are doing on this forum. You utter that no one lost life in church attack. So you are just waiting someone to lose life what? I saw in one of the photos published by Daijiworld, an innocent nun has been rushed to the hospital with an eye injury being a victim of brutality and atrocities committed by some fanatics for no mistake of hers.

      If same thing had to be happened to your mother or sister, what you would have done? In another photo, hooligans have disfigured the sacred statue of Jesus Christ and severed one hand and so many other rowdy things happened elsewhere in Mangalore. If these things had to be happened to you, what you would have done? Sitting quiet?

      Just think over. In the recent past, yet another pub attack on innocent girls. Who has given you authority to control all these things? Prior to that some so-called ‘Moral Police’ went on rampage and destroying the hotels for reason being that they serve beef. Having been given an opportunity will you not be a slave and subdue for the consumption of alcohol and relish beef and pork in back doors. Then, why this double standard? India is a democratic country and each every citizen knows his responsibility and there is judicial system for those who do not follow rules.

      So argument breeds over argument…Further more, ‘Love-Jihad’ is nothing but a fake and forged propaganda, which does not arise only. Could you please on this forum furnish a list of

      All must support Mr.Acharya for CID investigation on so called non existing elements like Love Jihad. Because Islam views these 2 aspects in 2 different angles as the former "love' has certain limitations and restrictions which is totally forbidden out of wedlock. The later "jihad" is a sacred word which represents "the struggle for survival" and not for innocent blood shed. Muslim community no need to panic as none can paste a non existing element on them how hard the fanatics tried it for. So keep silent till the truth prevails. God is great, 19 missing girls cases which were assumed as victims of love jihad, are unearthed now and hope the remaining whatsoever may also come to light soon.

      On the day of judgement where God will reign supreme, most of the politicinas will be in hell, led by Mr Acharya. Any one irrespective of his party, religion, ideologies, affiliation must be true to his inner soul and sincere and truthful to God in his actions and intentions. Then only he can do and deliver justice. I certainly cant harm a hindu brother/sister or chistian member as it is totally haram and forbidden my religion and my parents have been telling me not to harm a plant or an animal.

      Clarence, I strongly object your statement on generalization for Hindu's. Please understand majority of Hindus are peace loving people and co exist very well with other communities. Our own country is classic example. There can be few exception. Hindu's don't believe in braking other religious places. contrary to this Hindu religious places have been destroyed in large scale in the past.let us not have blind eye towards that.This is no way justification for any attacks if Hindu's make and i condemn it so as Majority of Hindus. Let us not divert from the main issues and talk about individual cases which doesn't affect society at large. Karnataka Government acting as per High court direction and be patient till truth comes out. Let us not fight before that. This has become habit of few pseudo seculars to bring in other issues/non-issues and divert the attention from main issue.

      Rajesh, so the final purpose of church attacks in Mangalore was to take life? Because no one died, no probe? Now tell me how many have died due to Love Jihad? How many cases have been proved so far so that a CID probe has become necessity? Let them first prove that something called Love Jihad exists not merely in papers but also in reality. Once they come across even one case with tangible proof, then let them proceed with CID probe, no one will object. But for the time being, it is merely a shadow boxing. Mr Venkat, in your own words, Padmapriya's was a murder and not suicide.

      The difference between so many other murder cases and that of Padmapriya, is that the latter was the wife of a second-time MLA, she went missing in mysterious circumstances, our home ministers once said she was found in Shimoga and then in Malur in Kolar before finalizing that she was found dead in Delhi? If it was a straightforward case, why the HM had to misguide the all regarding her whereabouts? People in public glare who are elected by the public do have to answer public. Note that no one is objecting a probe against Love Jihad, but the objection is with regard to the partial attitude of the govt. If the govt was clear and clean without blemish, they should have handed over these matters to CID too. They did not go to CID for proven crimes, but are going to CID for something which is still a paper tiger and not proved. Why this special interest towards some and total negligence to a few others?

      Why a probe into love jihad is unsettling the nerves of many readers here? Are they a party to such anti social and anti national activities like converting people to their religion? There cannot be smoke with out fire. Let Govt probe this menace and come out with a report. Donot compare church attack to this disappearence of poor ladies. No one lost life in church attack. How can just vandalism of property be compared to loss of lives / Disappearences. Human life is more precious than empty places and concrete structures. So i welcome the probe.

      Mr Khatib UAE, why you are interested in Padmapriya murder case. Does it mean all other murder cases regd. in Karnataka since last several decades (including during Congi Rule) are solved. There are so many serious murders took place during Congi rule which are not solved yet? Grow up man, current CID proble is ordered to check a social nuisance spreading several states - Kerala, Maharashtra and Karnataka and god knows in how many states it is happening silently. Everything will come out in the open if the enquiry is conducted fairly without looking at the votebank angle.

      Good move Mr. Acharya!!! The tragic is many innocent people will be going to harassed by the police people under the 'Love Jihad' weapon (CID enquiry)! It is none other than a tricky way to suppress the minority people. There are 100s of things which Govt can focus on that instead of doing some nuisance & creating issues in Karnataka. What a Shame on Mr. Saffron Acharya. Can he disclose the report (for public) once after done by the CID enquiry?! Who are there in the CID team?! How can we trust the report if it is lead by Saffron influenced officers? This is all a big drama to categorize the minority people. Let’s hope for the best. However, if some one is forcing to convert into Islam then Mr. Acharya can punish them based on our Law and everyone will support you if you are honest in this issue. No one will become Muslim if he forcibly converted by anyone. Ofcourse, Islam is a religion for peace and any one is welcome to Islam if he / she wants to convert by studying Quran and Hadith (Life style of Prophet (SA) & his (peace be upon him) preach). In America, Islam is spreading so rapidly and people are realizing the truths based on their scientific analysis with Quran. Islam never accepts (qabool) any forced conversion but no one can stop anyone if she / he wants to embrace Islam by his/ her own wish!

      I am not sure whether there is anything like 'Love Jihad' exists or not. But one thing is very sure and clear there are large numbers of men in Mangalore who are on the prowl to satisfy their sexual desires on the pretext of love. This phenomenon is not only restricted to men from one community. These men will dump the girl most of the time after their sexual gratification and move on looking for their next prey. It is very difficult to differentiate the wolf among the crowd and this is hard truth of Mangalore or any other city off late.

      Good points Mr.Gladson Brahmavar. The actual fact in so called "Love Jihad" and "conversions" is nothing but the cruel and inhuman Cast System based on Manuvad. The open and liberal atmosphere at Educational Institutions and work places help in mingling freely to the Men/boys and Women/girls and it gives the oppurtunity for such type of affairs. In addition the Harsh Dowry System make these girls develope relations with the boys who can marry them without any cast bar and dowry demands. That's so simple.It has nothing to do with Jihad or crusade. Its the creation of evil minds to malign the peaceful and cordial relations between different communities. Its a new and sophisticated ammunition of Sangh Parivar against the Minorities, particularly Muslims and Christians. Being the Commanders of the Saffron Brigade the C.M and the Home Minister have to March according to the dictated tune only. We can't expect any diffrent move from them in this regard. Further when a Muslim Girl fell in Love with Non Muslim Boys ,the very same Hindutva Brigade with the help of Police force arranges for the Marriage and Conversion of the Girl to Hinduism and portrays it as a symbol of Communal Harmony. Even the Media takes the same position. And when it is vise versa, why so much hue and cry I just can't understand. Anyway let any Highest Level Agency investigate the matter without prejudice and bias, and the world know the fact as early as possible.

      Dr. Acharya “There are communal interests behind the plot to spoil the image of Muslims who do not tolerate muslims progress. There is no such kind of word " Love Jihad" in Islam. Two years back in my native 2 muslim girls converted in to Hindu religion, can you tell which organization behind this act. But now High court and police themselves have revealed that there is no such kind of organization in Karnataka.       Acharya, why are you maintaining different yardstick for different communities? When there were attacks at Churches and Christians why there was no probe by CID? When Rama Sene attacked the girls at the pub why there was no proper investigation? Why you came to a conclusion the riots in Kapu was instigated the by the Muslims and the first stone came from the Masjid? You should be the home minister of Karnataka not the home minister for certain community and believe in Karma. I am sure that the results of the probe will be against Muslims and the state sponsored actors will have some victims to prove their allegations.

      This is what called Ondu Kaige sunna mattondu kaige benne in Kannada. Two different yardsticks based purely on religion, whatever others may say. This is the same home minister (the ultimate backdoor politician of Karnataka) who denied CID probe into church attacks, Padmapriya death case and many other cases despite severe pressure. Now just see how he is taking action at his own? Dr Acharya now why don't you go for Judiciary committee or CoD probe but for CID?

      Eversince you have become home minister, you have been following this method. Are you the home minister only for the majority community? Guess you did a very good job as simple doctor in Udupi. At least you were not attending patients based on their religion then. But now you and your police force have different yardstick of each community. I know you still have many supporters both in state and in this forum who will stick by your decisions.

      But this popularity limits only to them. While you and your BJP has always been nailing MMS as not elected representative forgetting that even you have never been elected by people directly. May be this kind of dual personality is BJP's birth right. On one hand you have been demanding hanging of Afzal Guru who is behind attack on parliament. But here in Karnataka Girish Mattennavar who planted bomb in Vidhana Soudha is your BJP youth state president. Why these different rules for different people and different parties and communities Dr Acharya?

      Dear Home minister before you proceed for the new probe pls advice us the status of probes like Padmapriya murder case, COD probe of the church attack in bangalore, Mysore riots case, coal scam, ISKON affairs probe, probe into lapses in Shiradi Ghat repair, NCW pub attack probe, judicial probe into attacks on Churches in M'lore etc etc
