Sigh of relief as Nirbhaya convicts finally set to be hanged


New Delhi, Feb 17 (IANS): The momenmt a Delhi court on Monday fixed March 3 as the fresh date of hanging for four convicts in the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case, Twitter was flooded with reactions.

The four death-row convicts will now be hanged on March 3 at 6 a.m. This is the third time the black warrant has been issued against them.

Additional Sessions Judge Dharmendra Rana pronounced the order issuing the fresh date for execution seven yaers after a 23-year-old woman was brutally gang raped and murder on December 16, 2012.

Such was the brutality that not just the nation, but international fora had come down heavily on the issue of women safety in the country.

Minutes after the execution order was reissued, a user wrote: "#Nirbhaya convicts to be hanged on 3rd March at 6am in Tihar Jail, new death warrant issued by Patiala House Court. Hope this time...she get justice."

Another wrote, "No further delays please. My support to #Nirbhaya's parents who have to live through the pain every day. And for those ranting about human rights - meditate."

A post read, "Hope this time the 4 convicts of #NirbhayaCase are finally executed.#justicefornirbhaya #Nirbhaya."

"#Nirbhaya I really hope that that are absolutely no more delays in hanging them. Even that juvenile should have been tried as an adult for his role in this heinous crime" read another post.

A user remarked, "I hope this time #NirbhayaCase will not prove out to be a joke in Indian history, #Nirbhaya should get justice this time.. I hope all of them hang on March 3."
