Mangalore: The United Friends Bejai to Present ‘Turbulence 09’

Mangalore, Oct 29: The United Friends, Bejai, is a peer group founded in the year 1989. During the last about two decades since its inception, the organization, which initially had concentrated on sports activities, has spread its wings far and wide, by conducting inter-parish cricket tournaments, football tournaments and mega events like ‘Fantasia – 98’, which consisted of a Baby Show, a Beauty Contest and inter-parish variety competition. Later, it organized Fantasia – 2000, in which Baby Show, Dance Competition and Beauty Contest were organized.

The organization has since its inception, conducted several blood donation camps, volleyball and throw ball tournaments and a district level chess tournament in the year 2009. It had donated money to Hemophilia Society of Manipal University in the year 2008, a poor family from Nallur, Karkala, with three handicapped children, the same year, North Kanara Flood Releif Fund and several other causes.

The organization has been extending whatever help possible, to mitigate the sufferings of the financially weak and sick people.

The United Friends Bejai will be presenting ‘Turbulence 09’, a musical nite for charity on December 19, 2009 from 6 pm to 11 pm at Coffee Works, near Highland, Falnir in the city. Popular DJ Dev, Nikhil Sahni, better known as DJ Nyk and Carlos Gonsalves will perform at the show. The organization wants to help the cancer patients with the proceeds of the show. It also aims at providing education to poor students, help the sick and conduct social service activities.

The organization expects kind patronage of sponsors and the general public alike, for its ambitious event, ‘Turbulence 09’.
