3 Mizoram residents killed in Tripura road mishap


Agartala, Feb 17 (IANS): At least three people, all Mizoram residents, including a woman were killed and as many suffered injuries in a road mishap in Tripura on Monday, the police said.

According to the police, three people were killed on the spot when their vehicle (jeep) fell into a deep gorge at Kanchanpur in northern Tripura.

"Six people including the slain men and woman are residents of neighbouring Mizoram. They were coming to their relatives' home at Kanchanpur (under North Tripura District). The vehicle carrying these people fell into 70 feet deep ravine," Kanchanpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Bikramjit Sukhla Das told IANS over phone.

The injured included two teenagers and a woman. Police personnel led by Sukhla Das and villagers recovered the bodies of the slain people and rescued the injured passengers and shifted them to a government hospital.
