Mangalore: Daylong Seminar as Preparation for Tulu Convention Held

Mangalore, Oct 31: A daylong seminar as part of preparation for the world Tulu convention was held with the theme, ‘Yesterday, today and tomorrow’ at T V Raman Pai Hall here on Saturday October 31. Seminar comprised several sessions that focused on social, business and economic issues of the region including diversion of Netravati river.   
Nitte Education Trust chairman N Vinaya Hegde inaugurated the seminar and said that the target of the Tuluvas should be to put in efforts that language gets international recognition. It’s time that a clear message on cultural and traditional richness of Tulu is sent across to all those people who were alarmed that the language was facing extinction. In this background, the decision to host a world Tulu convention can be deemed a remarkable milestone with a likely positive feedback from Tulu experts and leaders, he said. 

Dr D Veerendra Heggade, president of the convention briefed on the objectives of the seminar. B Nagaraj Shetty, chairman, Coastal Development Authority, Dr N K Thingalaya, former president of Syndicate Bank, Dr B Yashovarma, secretary of convention,  Dr Devaraj K, principal of SDM College and Dr K Sundar Naik, additional principal chief forest officer among others were present at the inaugural function. 

The sessions on Education, health and media, Industries, tourism and transport, Fisheries and diversion of Netravati, Commerce, export, banking and co-operation and overall development of coastal Karnataka were held.
