Hindu Sena welcomes 'hero' Trump

New Delhi, Feb 20 (IANS): The head of fringe outfit Hindu Sena, who had earlier celebrated US President Donald Trump's birthday by cutting a cake for him, has welcomed his upcoming India tour, calling him a "hero".

"We are overwhelmed to welcome our 'Hero', humanity's saviour - President Trump to India," Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta said in a statement.

The outfit also released a short welcome song "in his honour".

It has also appealed to all Indian Americans to vote for Trump in the next US presidential election with the slogan - 'Phir Ek Bar Trump Sarkaar', akin to the slogan in the run-up to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's re-election in 2019 polls.

"As the US presidential election will be held later this year, Hindu Sena appeals to all Indian-Americans to vote for Mr. Donald Trump and help 'Make America Great Again' so that India-US ties grow and prosper hand-in-hand," said Gupta, concluding with "Bharat Mata ki Jai".

Photos of Gupta feeding the photo of Trump in a poster on his birthday went viral on social media in 2017. That year, the outfit cut a cake weighing 7.1 kgs in New Delhi. In 2016 also, the group had held a 'havan' for Trump, wishing for his success in the US general election which he won.
