Summer is coming: Temp in Delhi to soar from Saturday

New Delhi, Feb 21 (IANS): After a sudden drop in mercury and drizzle in the national capital, the temperature is set to soar from Saturday.

"Due to induce-cyclonic circulation in Rajasthan, it rained in the Delhi-NCR region yesterday. There will be light rainfall today as well. The temperature will, however, start rising from tomorrow," Kuldeep Srivastava, head of the regional meteorological centre at the Indian Meteorological Department, told IANS.

The mercury in the national capital was soaring steadily but the city witnessed rain and thunderstorm on Thursday night due to which the temperature dropped a few notches.

The maximum and minimum temperatures on Friday are likely to hover over 23 and 14 degrees, respectively.

The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted generally "cloudy sky with light rain or drizzle" for the day.

Due to gusty winds, the air quality has improved a bit and is in the "moderate" category. Air Index Index (AQI) has dropped down to 166.
