No threat for minorities in TN: Palaniswami


Chennai, Feb 24 (IANS): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Palaniswami said on Monday that there is no threat to minorities in the state.

Speaking to reporters in Coimbatore, Palaniswami said that unnecessary fears are being created about the National Population Register (NPR).

He also said that the government has declared February 24 as Girl Child Protection Day to mark the birth anniversary of late Chief Minister J. Jayalaltihaa, the former General Secretary of AIADMK.

On the opposition parties' charge of increasing debt for the state, Palaniswami said the expenditure towards developmental projects have gone up and hence the loan amount has also increased.
