J&K govt takes action against illegal mining


Pulwama, Feb 25 (IANS): Acting tough on the complaints against illegal mining in Pulwama, officials of the J&K government conducted raids on Monday.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Raghav Langer, accompanied by the officials of the geology and mining department, conducted the raids. The team raided various areas including Kakapora, Pinglena, Khadermoh, Koil, Ugergund, Gulshan Pora, Lasssipora and Padgam Pora.

During the raids, 50 tippers were seized and black listed while the mining supervisor of the geology and mining department was suspended for dereliction of duty.

The documents of the seized tippers have been impounded and black listed. The DC has directed the ARTO to cancel the RCs, driving licences and permits of the seized vehicles.
