Rajasthan village mourns its son

Jaipur, Feb 25 (IANS): Tihawali village in Sikar on Tuesday mourned the death of its son, Head Constable Ratan Lal, who died yesterday while trying to control violence involving pro and anti-CAA groups in north-east Delhi.

Lal belonged to Sikar in Rajasthan. His wife received information about his death after watching TV news.

He is survived by two daughters, Sidhi (12), and Kanak (10), and son Ram (7).

His wife said after watching TV news on Monday, she got a call from Delhi Police informing her that her husband had been injured and was in hospital. Her family then left for Delhi.

Ratan Lal joined police in 1998 and was posted at Gokulpuri sub-division in north-east Delhi.

Meanwhile, residents of the village have demanded that Lal be given the martyr status so that his family gets adequate compensation. They also want a local sports stadium named after name.
