Court dismisses Christian Michel's plea for interview with foreign lawyer

New Delhi, Feb 25 (IANS): A Delhi court on Tuesday dismissed an application seeking permission to allow a foreign legal advisor to interview the alleged middleman and accused in the Rs 3,600 crore AgustaWestland chopper deal case, Christian Michel, in jail.

Michel is undergoing judicial custody for his alleged involvement in the AgustaWestland defence deal case. He was extradited from the UAE in December 2018.

In the application, Michel had sought permission to allow consultation with Italian lawyer Rosemary Patrizzi.

Special CBI Judge Arvind Kumar rejected the application, but allowed Patrizzi to meet him as a friend as per jail rules.

While seeking the permission, the counsel for the accused had submitted that the consultation was necessary for conducting the cases which he was facing in foreign jurisdictions.
