Phones of Kerala politicians, media being tapped: Congress

Alappuzha (Kerala) Feb 26 (IANS): The Congress party on Wednesday levelled the serious allegation against the Kerala government that the phones of opposition leaders and the media are being tapped.

Speaking to the media here, the Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala said the state government's actions tantamount to setting off a dangerous trend.

"This has started ever since the opposition has been taking on the government after there have been numerous reports in the way the affairs of the police are being run. Phones are being tapped to find out the links between the media and the opposition. This particular practice should stop as it's a dangerous course of action," Chennithala said.

Ever since the CAG report on the various lapses in the functioning of the Kerala Police came out early this month, Chennithala has been going hammer and tongs at Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
