Lucknow varsity to start 'Education for Happiness' course


Lucknow, Feb 28 (IANS): Lucknow University is set to launch an 'Education for Happiness' course in the M.Ed curriculum from the new academic session, said Lucknow University spokesperson Durgesh Kumar on Friday.

With this new course, the university will teach students to be happy in any situation.

Amita Bajpai, of the education department, told IANS: "This is an inter-departmental course. Science and M.Com students can also study this course. The Faculty of Education will add happiness course in the third and fourth semester of M.Ed from new academic session.

"Happiness course will have five units, including the several aspects related to happiness. The aim of the course is to make students realise about what happiness is. The syllabus includes philosophy and Gita too," said Bajpai.

This is an optional course but a complete examination will be conducted for this. The curriculum will be sent to the academic council after approval of the faculty board, said Bajpai.

Bajpai added that if the demand comes in the future, we will start degree and diploma courses also.
