Man makes bomb hoax tweet on Dibrugarh Rajdhani

New Delhi, Feb 28 (IANS): Security agencies on Friday went into a tizzy after a person informed the railways about five bombs on board the Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express. However, the person informed again saying he had made a false statement after the train got delayed by four hours.

In a tweet, a person identified as Sanjeev Singh Gurjar said, "I want to inform that there are 5 bombs in a train Rajdhani (12424) going from New Delhi to Kanpur Central. Please take some action."

Gurjar also tagged Railway Ministry, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, Delhi Police and the railways' catering arm Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).

Following the tweet of the explosives on the premium train, the railways swung into action and stopped the train at the Dadri station. The train was searched thoroughly by the bomb squad, the Railway Protection Force, Government Railway Police and the local police. Even the passengers were told to deboard the train at the time of the search as a precautionary measure.

Later Gurjar once again took to twitter and wrote, "I have done this tweet due to mental pressure as my brother's train was delayed by four hours. I apologise to the government."

Northern Railway spokesperson Deepak Kumar said, "A twitter message was received today from Sanjeev Singh Gurjar that there are five bombs in Dibrugarh Rajdhani. The train was stopped as a precautionary measure at Dadri station... a thorough check was conducted by RPF, GRP and local police. Nothing has been found," he said.

Kumar said Gurjar again tweeted in the evening citing mental stress because his brother's train was delayed by four hours.

"The matter is being investigated. The train was stopped at the Dadri station at 5:05 p.m. and it proceeded for its onward journey after a thorough checking and clearance from security personnel at 7:47 p.m."
