PM indicates quitting social media soon

New Delhi, Mar 2 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday surprised everyone after he tweeted that he was thinking of giving up social media accounts.

"This Sunday, thinking of giving up my social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & YouTube. Will keep you all posted," PM Modi tweeted.

Minutes after the tweet, the social media went abuzz as to why the Prime Minister was thinking about leaving social media platforms.

There is speculation that the reason for thinking of going away from social media might be the alleged misuse of it to spread rumours.

Recently the national capital witnessed heavy use of social media to propagate rumours which resulted in amplified effects of riots in Delhi.

Resign from PM post. India will be better off. I am not sure how you go to sleep when so many people are killed under your watch as PM.

Clear signs of unpopular messages. Use Modi's social account for voting instead of EVMs. No manipulation facility in this or replacing damaged equipment. All equipment will show same message or voting result.

How will the PM's quitting from social media stop the general public from engaging in spreading news (fake or real) ?

Did he not know the impact when he 'Dideerr' became a social media person with highest numbers of followers ? What did he want to prove ? His popularity ?

Shouldn't he instead advise his followers not to commit which might nail them someday ? Running away is the only answer ?
