Miscreants assault Bengal Cong MP's office staff


New Delhi, March 3 (IANS): Congress floor leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury's personal office staff at his Humayun Road residence, here on Tuesday, were attacked by unknown persons. The member of Parliament was not at the residence at the time of incident.

The Delhi Police said they had received the complaint and were probing the incident.

According to eyewitnesses, four people came looking at 5 p.m. to meet the MP from West Bengal. The enquired about Chowdhury. When his office staff said the MP was not at the residence, they asked to be connected to Chowdhury on phone. When this was declined by the office staff, they turned aggressive and a minor scuffle ensued.

Pradipto Rajpandit, personal secretary to the MP, said, "We have filed a complaint with Tughlak Road police station. It's a serious concern as it also involved security of an MP."

Chowdhury has been critical to the government policies and have been at the forefront of the political attack.
