Serena Williams Tops Season-ending Rankings


Hamburg, Nov 9 (DPA) Serena Williams takes the women's world number one rankings into 2010 as she topped this year's final list issued by the WTA Monday.

Williams regained first place from injured Dinara Safina last week and leads the way with 9,075 points from the Russians Safina (7,800) and Svetlana Kuznetsova (6,141). There has been no change in the top-10 position.

WTA top 10 as of November 9 (previous ranking in parenthesis):

1. (1) Serena Williams, United States, 9,075 points

2. (2) Dinara Safina, Russia, 7,800

3. (3) Svetlana Kuznetsova, Russia, 6,141

4. (4) Caroline Wozniacki, Denmark, 5,875

5. (5) Elena Dementieva, Russia, 5,585

6. (6) Venus Williams, United States, 5,126

7. (7) Victoria Azarenka, Belarus, 4,820

8. (8) Jelena Jankovic, Serbia, 3,965

9. (9) Vera Zvonareva, Russia, 3,560
