Kuwait: Ministry bans expatriate’s participation on fish auctions

Daijiworld Media Network – Kuwait (EP)

Kuwait, Mar 7: Fishermen here, protested against the ban by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry against the participation of expatriates in the auction of fish. The ban here is primarily intended to tackle the rising cost of fish. Only Kuwaitis and license holders are allowed to enter the area of the auction during the bidding process as per the new orders.

However the reduction in prices has not been significant after the ban. Brokers of the market and owners of offices usually buy for resale most of the fish.
