Cong demands judicial probe into Delhi riots

New Delhi, March 9 (IANS): The Congress fact-finding team for Delhi riots in its report, submitted to party interim chief Sonia Gandhi here on Monday, has demanded judicial probe into it to reveal the conspiracy angle.

Demanding Home Minister Amit Shah's resignation, it has suggested filing of FIR against Bharatiya Janata Party leaders Kapil Mishra, Pravesh Verma and Anurag Thakur and their immediate arrest.

"The riots were part of a conspiracy and only an enquiry by a sitting high court or Supreme Court judge could reveal the truth," said senior Congress leader Mukul Wasnik.

Stating that outsiders were involved in the riots, he said the police failed to act despite cops becoming victims of the violence. Arvind Kejriwal-led state government too failed to act. With the civil administration coming under its purview, it could have prevented the violence, he added.

The riots claimed 54 lives.
