Bengaluru, Mar 11: As the number of coronavirus infected persons in the state has climbed to four, chief minister (CM) B S Yediyurappa has instilled courage in people by saying that there is no need to panic. He has also asked the people of Karnataka to cooperate with the concerned authorities to contain the spread of epidemic.

Yediyurappa was speaking to the press after holding a meeting with the minister of health and officials of the health department on Tuesday. CM said, "In the last two days, four people have been infected with coronavirus in the state. Government has taken all possible precaution to prevent the same from spreading to other parts of the state."

In the midst of this assurance by the CM, health minister Sriramulu and medical education minister Dr K Sudhakar held a joint press conference and said, "All the four infected people are being treated at the Rajiv Gandhi hospital for chest diseases under isolation. All are responding to treatment and are getting better."

The actions initiated by the government to control the spreading of the epidemic include strict monitoring on the people who were in contact with the infected persons, absolute strict monitoring of all the passengers arriving at the airports, isolation ward readiness in all government and private hospitals and instruction to drug controller to take severe action against those who charge more price for face masks.
