Kalaburagi, Mar 11: A suspected coronovirus-affected elderly person died here on Wednesday, March 11. Minister for Health and Family Welfare B Sriramulu that the reason for the death is yet to be ascertained.
Mohammed Hussain Siddiqui (76) had arrived from Saudi Arabia on February 29. He was admitted to the JIMS hospital in the city on March 5 as he developed fever and cough. Later, when the doctors noticed symptoms of coronavirus in him, he was kept in special ward.

Throat culture sample of Siddiqui was sent to Victoria hospital of Bengaluru for testing. However, the family members of Siddiqui had shifted him to Hyderabad for higher treatment, even before the arrival of his medical report. Health officials of the district have kept strict watch on the family members of the disease to prevent any spreading of the same.
In his reminder letter, district health and family welfare officer has instructed taluk health officer Dr Sharanabasappa Kyatanala and his team to take all precautions till the funeral rites of Siddiqui are over to prevent any spread of the dreaded virus.
However, B Sriramulu clarified through a tweet that the cause for the death is yet to be ascertained. He also requested people to not to confuse themselves or spread any rumours over the death.
Meanwhile, the number of people affected with COVID-19 virus is increased to 61. A person of Indian origin has already died in London. In Pune, three more new cases are identified. In Kerala, the number of infected people has risen for 12 to 19 in a single day.
