Bodoland Territorial Council polls on April 4


Guwahati, March 11 (IANS): The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections will be held on April 4, the Assam state Election Commission announced on Wednesday.

The votes will be counted on April 8 for the 40-member BTC, which comprises four districts -- Kokrajhar, Baksa, Chirang and Udalguri.

The poll panel said that a total electorate of 23,86,359 -- 12.9 lakh male and 11.76 lakh female -- are eligible to exercise their democratic choice in the 3,077 polling stations in the region. The last date for filing nominations is March 18.
