Summer is approaching; mercury to touch 30 deg C

New Delhi, March 13 (IANS): The national capital will get a much-needed respite from the fluctuating mercury as the temperature is set to soar from the next week.

"Summer is fast approaching. Due to western disturbance, the temperature will remain cooler till March 15. On March 18 and 19, however, it will touch thirty degree celsius," Kuldeep Srivastava, head of the regional meteorological centre at the Indian Meteorological Department, told IANS.

The weather will be pleasant on Friday with maximum and minimum temperatures hovering over 28 and 15 degree Celsius.

Due to gusty winds, the air quality has also improved a bit and is in the "moderate" category. Air Index (AQI) has dropped down to 138.

The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted "generally cloudy sky with light rain or drizzle" for Friday.

Srivastava said the city is likely to witness slight rain, thunder and hailstorm over the weekend.
