Puttur: Police nab infamous thief, recover gold, silver worth Rs 18 lac

Puttur, Mar 13: Crime detective squad led by Puttur rural police circle inspector and squad led by Uppinangady police station ASI arrested infamous thief Shaukat Ali alias Shaukath (65), a native of Shankarapura in Chikkamagalur and presently residing in Mani village in the taluk of Bantwal on March 6.

Shaukath is accused is involved in breaking open the houses that were locked when the inmates went out. He has carried out his activities in Adarsha Nagara, Nekkiladi, Kalleri, Kempi Majalu under Uppinangady police station limits and Ajeya Nagara, Mura, Bannuru Haradi, Kodimbadi, Jainaraguri near RTO, Salmara, Darandakukku. In addition, he has also stolen things from houses in Kalladka under Bantwal police station limits.

The accused is involved in nearly 13 theft cases. The police have recovered gold and silver worth Rs 18 lac from Shaukath.
