Ranji Trophy: Mumbai Bowled out for 162 against Himachal Pradesh


Mumbai, Nov 17 (IANS) Mumbai were bowled out for a paltry 162 in their first innings against Himachal Pradesh on the first day of the Ranji Trophy Super League at Bandra-Kurla Complex here Tuesday.

Put in to bat, Mumbai were reeling at 99 for seven before Ajit Agarkar struck a 66-ball 45 to lend some decency to the total. V.S. Malik wrecked the Mumbai innings, taking six wickets for 33 runs.

At stumps, Himachal were 100 for three with Bhavin Thakkar batting at 48 and V.A. Indulkar at 10.

At Rajkot, Saurashtra cruised to 236 for two at the end of first day's play after deciding to bat. Chirag Pathak top-scored with 90 runs. Shitanshu Kotak was batting at 85 and Chetashwar Pujara at 52 when stumps were drawn.

At Hyderabad, Hyderabad were reduced to 100 for five by Gujarat. An unbroken 75-run partnership between Anirudh Singh (34 batting), S. Quadri (51 batting) then steadied the scoring for Hyderabad. They were 175 for five at the end of the first day's play. Siddharth Trivedi took four for 30 for Gujarat.
