Bengaluru, Mar 15: A second PU student who weaved an imaginary story of question paper leak has been debarred. It is learnt that he cooked up the story in order to get the examination postponed.
State minister for primary and secondary education, S Suresh Kumar, confessed that there was some confusion on Friday night on account of mischief played by one of the students. He revealed that an officer in the department of PU education received WhatsApp message in which it was stated that the question paper relating to computer science subject pertaining to second PU examination scheduled to be held on Saturday had been leaked. The person who sent the message also asked the officer to replace the question paper with an alternative one.

On the basis of this message, the police registered a complaint. During their operation, Bengaluru (north) police got to know the details of the case. They found out that the cellphone number used for sending the above message belonged to a student.
The police took the student into custody and questioned him at which the student revealed that he is a computer science student of second PU. He said he had not prepared for the examination well and therefore wanted the examination to be postponed. He agreed that he had sent the message with the sole purpose of getting the examination postponed.
The minister said that legal action has been taken against the student on the basis of his statement and that he has been debarred. He said he was apprehensive about the damage this message would have caused if it had been sent to others. He thanked the officials of PU Board headed by director of PU Examination Board, Kanagavalli, and Bengaluru (north) police, who conducted a joint operation, and saw that no damage was done.
The student who sent the said message happens to be a student of a college at Jayanagar in the city. A case has been registered in this connection in Yeshwantpur police station. City (north) deputy commissioner of police, Shashikumar, said that the student, who has been taken into custody, is being questioned in the presence of his parents.
