Mangalore, Nov 18: Sayyed Kirmani, former cricketer and director of Karnataka State Cricket Academy (KSCA), said that the Academy will support all children who are interested in cricket as nobody should leave the game for reasons of selection.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday November 18, Kirmani said that the Academy has been re-launched with the aim of encouraging children in the under-14 age group. 

“The Academy will try to involve all children who want to be cricketers without depriving them of coaching”, he said, adding that all six zones in the state will implement this.

“The Academy is a month-old baby which has been re-launched”, said Kirmani. “Besides targeting talent, the Academy will try to ensure uniformity in coaching by meeting all the coaches in the state as well as concerned associations”, he added.






















Answering a query, Kirmani said that children from the age of 14 to 19 should be encouraged to work hard, as this is the period when they are moulded and this helps cultivate the power of playing. 

He said that under Mangalore zone, related rural areas will also be covered and children from these areas will also benefit.

Kirmani and Karthik Jeswanth, secretary of KSCA, met with the deputy commissioner (DC) of the district about development of infrastructure related to cricket in the region. 

Jeswanth, former captain of Karnataka state cricket team, said that 25 acres of land is enough to construct an international stadium and airport connectivity is a plus point for this.

Both the former cricketers were in the city for a feasibility study of infrastructure to chalk out their future plans.

Kirmani enjoyed coaching children at Nehru Maidan for nearly an hour. 

KSCA also comes under the Karnataka State Cricket Association, which is affiliated to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Manohar Amin, convener, Karnataka State Cricket Association, Mangalore zone, was also present.

    I think this is a very late intiative taken by Mr Kirmani. I dont think he is fit enough to train/coach or even inspire anyone. wher are the other cricketers like Raghuram Bhat,Roger Binny,Bhagwat Chandrasekhar,Rahul Dravid,Anil Kumble, Brijesh Patel,Erapalli Prasanna,Javagal Srinath,Venkatesh Prasad,Sunil Joshi,Robin Uthappa, Sujith Somasunder, M. R. Srinivasaprasad,Sudhakar Rao,Gundappa Viswanath ,Vijay Bharadwaj ,Dodda Ganesh

    Syed Kirmani the greatest of the indian wicket keeper/batsman at the Nehru Maidan. Wow... wish I was there too.
