Nirbhaya convicts move ICJ for stay on execution

New Delhi, March 16 (IANS): Three convicts in the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case on Monday approached the International Court of Justice (ICJ) seeking a stay on their execution scheduled for March 20.

The plea filed through Advocate A.P. Singh sought stay on execution of the convicts - Akshay, Pawan and Vinay.

The plea also sought for an open court hearing of the oral arguments by the death row convicts through their legal counsel.

The plea also sought for calling of records of the present case by the ICJ.

The Supreme Court on Monday rejected the request by one of convicts in the 2012 Delhi gang-rape to file a new curative petition against his death sentence, refusing to once again put on hold their execution due this week.

"Circumstances say there is no remedy left. You (Mukesh Singh) have availed mercy plea. It was rejected. Warrants issued. Curative petition has been dismissed. What's the remedy left?" the Supreme Court said.

This appear like mockery of justice. The case investigation seems to be incomplete. People behind this should be hanged first. The post ponement created doubts. It should be investigated beyond present investigation curbing limitations

The more they try to delay their hanging, the more time they spend in foreseeing their death, which is another sort of worst punishment. Can one imagine how it is to think every minute, every second about such death in hanging? They must have spent sleepless nights and would spend their remaining few days in just imagining hanging, suffocating and finally dying. Nirbhaya too must have begged them for mercy but did these 6 monsters listen to her? As if rape was not enough, she was brutally injured and was thrown out of the moving bus. If hardcore terrorists can be hanged, why not these rapists and murderers who are not less than such terrorists?

This is like negotiating with terrorists. After 2014 our courts are very dear to terrorists and proven guilty criminals. There is no end to this dog chasing its tail with this absurd move and these criminals know very well they are guilty but prolonging whatever means available to stay alive as long as possible.
