Conduct floor test on Tuesday: MP Governor to Kamal Nath

Bhopal, March 16 (IANS): Madhya Pradesh Governor Lalji Tandon on Monday asked the Kamal Nath-led Congress government for a floor test in the 230-member Assembly on Tuesday.

Tandon in his letter to Nath said that as he received the letter of the Chief Minister on March 14 and that was not in accordance with parliamentary decorum.

"In my letter dated March 14, I had requested you to hold a floor test in the House on March 16. Today after I read my speech in the House, but I did not find the proposal of holding the floor test and adjourned the Houe till March 26," he said.

The Governor in his letter also mentioned that the decision of the Supreme Court referred by the Chief Minister in his letter does not apply in the present scenario.

Tandon told the Chief Minister that "it is unfortunate that you did not try to hold the floor test in the prescribed time frame, which has no basis."

"The reasons mentioned by you in the letter for not holding the floor test are baseless," the Governor said.

"Thus I am requesting you to hold the floor test in the House on March 17 and prove majority, or it should be understood that you do not have majority in the House," Tandon said.

The fresh letter to hold a floor test in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly comes amid the political crisis in the state following the resignation by 22 Congress MLAs.

The Speaker had earlier accepted the resignation of six state ministers.

The 16-month-old Congress government in the state is facing a litmus state after the Congress MLAs owing allegiance to Jyotiraditya Scindia resigned after the Gwalior royal quit the Congress and joined the BJP on March 10.

MP governor is holding a gun at Kamal Nath's head and forcing to hold floor test. In spite of SC directive against this governor is violating SC order and illegally forcing to hold floor test. Except 6 MLAs who have submitted resignation there is no news and whereabouts of remaining MLAs and thier decisions. Governor only wants to take advantage of absence of these MLAs and be a partner-in-crime with BJP to topple the normally functioning govt. to prove lack of majority.

If someone like Scindia , educated, loyal, dynamic, kind hearted man has left the party, Then there is something radically wrong with the Congress. I am sorry to say despite being a Congress supporter.

What about the previous horse-trading done? it's not anything to do with party. it's the greed in them which sells them to others party. Hope these MLAs come back and support the ruling govt than selling themselves for lure and going against the people mandate. If horse-trading is done after the majority party comes to power what is the need to conduct elections?

I know this Scindia family as I worked as CA in one of their private firms. This Scindia guy has got so much money that he can buy half of Madhya Pradesh. He wont fall for any horse trading gimmick. He apparently has not got his dues as per his caliber. As long as Cong promotes RaGa , then its last days are not far away,

It was upto SC to accept Congress's appeal and whatever time suitable to SC within the constitution and democratic norms. But FYI congress did not violate and do anything against SC verdict unlike what the MP is doing now. Go get some valid facts to argue don't talk blindly.

SC has already delivered its verdict on this regard but BJP is not abiding by that verdict. Don't be an ostrich and hide your head. BJP double standard is fully exposed.
