64-year-old from Mumbai becomes third coronavirus victim in India

Mumbai, Mar 17: Amid rising coronavirus cases in India, a 64-year-old Mumbai resident has become the third person to die from the infection.

However, the victim suffered from multiple health complications apart from COVID-19 infections. 

He was undergoing treatment at Mumbai's Kasturba hospital.

Meanwhile, Rajesh Tope, minister of Public Health and Family Welfare, Maharashtra, stated that the coronavirus outbreak is in the second stage and that the government was following strict procedures to not let it step in the third phase where the transmission affects the community as a whole even if a person does not have any exposure to coronavirus-hit nations.

On questions regarding the 64-year-old who died at the Kasturba Hospital on Tuesday, Tope responded stating that victim in context was admitted on March 5. The man who was a Dubai returnee had allegedly hid details from the authorities, including the fact that he had come from Dubai. "It is not possible to say now if the man died due to coronavirus. We are waiting for the report," the minister commented

As of March 17, the number of positive coronavirus cases in India rose to 126 with three deaths and 13 people being discharged.

    Very sad and serious matter.
    It is not a indigenous Virus. As per Mumbai TOI News reports, the Virus infection spread to most of the people over here is from UAE returned people in the last one month. At that time they had no symptoms but developed later.

    Mumbai and surrounding places are highly crowded, if the decease spreads, would be very difficult to contain at later stage. Our national resources will drain out in combating the Virus.
    Even now it's imperative for Govt machinery to track and check everyone, who returned from abroad to the country in the last one month to prevent it's spread.

    14 Days voluntary home quarantine.
    Meanwhile if they start showing any symptoms, Please ahead to the nearest govt. district hospital or medical colleges.

    Please try to check with Mangalore Airport.

    As per new central government rules announced yesterday evening, all passengers on Gulf sector flights departing after 4pm UAE time on 18th May will be subject to compulsory quarantine, not home quarantine.

    The hospital quarantine facilities vary a lot from place to place.

    Mumbai will require mega Municipal drives
    against pavement vendors and street fast
    food vendors, who are not hygienic at all,
    and are not regulated by the Dept. of Food
    or Health.

    The Municipality should also begin to clean
    the open drains and collect the garbage on
    a daily basis. Also begin to wash the underground
    walkways, foot-over-bridges where people live
    on and under it.

    Merely having large hoarding stating GREEN MUMBAI
    CLEAN MUMBAI won't help fight control of any epidemic.
