BJP Submits 'Chargesheet' against Mayawati, BSP to Governor

Lucknow, Nov 19 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Thursday submitted to Uttar Pradesh Governor B.L. Joshi a 'chargesheet' against state Chief Minister Mayawati seeking action against her and functionaries of the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) for their alleged criminal and corrupt practices.

"The chargesheet has been prepared on the basis of facts and evidences we possess against Mayawati. It (chargesheet) not only unmasks Mayawati, but several of her MLAs and MPs," BJP's state president and senior leader Ramapati Ram Tripathi told reporters here at a press conference.

"The chargesheet has been categorized under various sections that deals with violation of constitutional bodies by Mayawati, heinous criminal cases against BSP ministers and MLAs that were withdrawn by the state government and misuse of public funds by MPs and MLAs," he added.

The BJP has also urged the governor to inform the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) central government about the unfair and illegal practices of the BSP government.

According to Tripathi, the last section of the chargesheet focuses on the mushrooming of "suspicious madrassas" along the Indo-Nepal border in various districts of Uttar Pradesh.

"We have highlighted in the chargesheet that the Mayawati government is also compromising with security measures in the state that can have serious repercussions for the entire nation," Tripathi said.
