Mangaluru: Thank you readers – Rs 12 lac collected for Sharal’s medical expenses

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (SB)

Mangaluru, Mar 18: The kind-hearted readers of Daijiworld have once again joined hands to help a young student fight a tough battle.

Responding to an appeal published by Daijiworld on March 3, regarding Sharal Monteiro battling between life and death due to Cancer, the readers have contributed over Rs 12 lac.

Sharal a resident of Ballapadav, a village in Kasaragod district, was diagnosed with Wilms Tumor with Lung and Mediastinal Metastasis (Cancer) and was advised to undergo specialized treatment. In 2018, while she was pursuing her II PUC, Sharal fell ill. In spite of that, she completed her PUC and was looking forward to pursue higher studies. However, her health further deteriorated and she was forced to stop her studies.

She underwent medical tests and was diagnosed with Wilms Tumour with Lung and Mediastinal Metastasis (Cancer). She has undergone six weeks of VDA (SIOP 9 regimen) chemotherapy and was advised for specialized treatment.

Despite not earning regular income, Sharal’s family has spent Rs 3 lacs for investigations, diagnosis and treatment since the past two years. Same time, they could not pay house loan and started to receive notice from bank.

“We knocked all doors. Few who knew our story contributed whatever they can. But we could not manage the huge amount for specialized treatment. At a moment, we thought all ways are closed. But some of our distant well-wishers asked us to meet Daijiworld team and ask for help. When we met the management of Daijiworld, we received a ray of hope. Ever since the story of our daughter was published, my account was credited with money, from various corners of the world. I don’t know who has contributed for my daughter’s treatment. But I think God came to me for help in the form of Daijiworld readers. With the financial help of readers, my daughter underwent surgery and it was successful. Now she has again started to dream about her future,” says Jacintha, Sharal’s mother.

Daijiworld thanks its esteemed readers for responding positively for the cause. The generosity has brought back smiles and filled the needy with hope.

We hope our readers will continue to respond positively in our efforts to assuage the problems of the less privileged or those who are in dire need. Let us work in unison towards a common goal.
