Mangaluru, Mar 19: More stringent measures are announced by Sindhu B Rupesh, deputy commissioner (DC) of Dakshina Kannada district to contain the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, the cases of which are on the rise across the globe.

The passengers arriving from overseas will be categorized and A, B and C. If a passenger is found to have symptoms in thermal scan he or she will be categorized as A and will be sent directly to hospital for quarantine. Passengers who are above 65-years-old and suffering from complications like blood pressure (BP), diabetes and other health conditions will be classified as category B and sent to government quarantine centres. The rest will be termed as C category and will be sent to their home for home quarantine.

In addition, DC Sindhu has taken more measure on the Dakshina Kannada-Kodagu border taluk of Sullia. Surveillance of vehicles and people is increased at the border due to the coronavirus positive case reported in the district of Kasargod.

“The 51 passengers from the district, who arrived in the flight from Dubai with a positive tested person from Kerala, have been tracked and urged for home quarantine.

“Election style of stamping was done in the morning at the airport. The stamping on the hand will be done from today,” said the DC.

Additional DC Roopa, MCC commissioner Ajith Kumar and others were present.

    Yes it's a good initiative to prevent covid 19. But simultaneously we have to create more awareness among the people. In the same time People's in public places (air port, railway station, bus stop, local markets etc.)has to maintain safe distance from each other's. Plan for day to day work and try to avoid unnecessary travelling.

    Won't category A impact rest of the categories via transit? What precautions are airlines and airport taking?

    They have to stay where they are now. In America they stopped inbound flight from few r countries, don't you think lot of American own families coming in there?. I dont think this is right idea, categorizing by A,B and C.
