COVID-19: PGI-Chandigarh shuts OPD services


Chandigarh, March 19 (IANS): The prestigious PGI hospital here on Thursday announced it would shut down its out-patient departments (OPDs) with immediate effect to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Every day the PGIMER receives 10,000 patients on an average from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.

The OPD services will remain suspended till further orders, an official statement said. However, screening OPD for COVID-19 will continue in the new OPD block and emergency area.

Also, no elective surgeries will be performed from March 21 till further orders. But the emergency services will continue as usual in all the emergency areas.
