Tension at Madurai Airport as some passengers protest quarantine

Chennai, March 19 (IANS): Tension prevailed in the Madurai International Airport on Thursday evening after some passengers on a flight from Dubai resisted being sent into quarantine.

"The flight from Dubai landed at the Madurai International Airport in the evening with 144 passengers. About four/five passengers refused to go to the quarantine camp. There was some misunderstanding between the passengers and the officials at the airport as they had kept the passengers' passport which in turn resulted in heated arguments for sometime," a police official told IANS over phone.

He said 132 passengers understood the precautionary procedures to prevent the spread of Coronavirus and went to the quarantine camp near the airport and the balance 12 passengers have gone to their homes.
