Justice delivered - All four Nirbhaya convicts hanged in Tihar Jail

New Delhi, Mar 20 (IANS): More than seven years after committing the gruesome crime, the four men convicted for the brutal gang-rape and murder of a physiotherapy student in the national capital were hanged in Tihar Jail in the early hours of Friday.

The four convicts Vinay Sharma, Akshay Thakur, Mukesh Singh and Pawan Gupta, have finally paid the price for the heinous crime they committed in December 2012.

With the execution of the convicts, curtains have finally been brought down on the case which gathered dust for several years.

Over the years, the convicts adopted several manoeuvres to delay the hanging and even succeeded thrice. This time, however, they could not escape the clutches of the judiciary and were hanged till death.

The case pertained to the gruesome gang-rape of a 23-year-old girl by six men in a moving bus on the fateful night of December 16, 2012.

The girl, who was later dubbed as Nirbhaya, and her male friend was assaulted and thrown on the road. The attackers inserted rod into her vagina and ripped her intestines apart. The injuries were so brutal that she succumbed to them thirteen days later.

The gruesome crime shook the conscience of the nation and led to country-wide protests and a change in the country's rape laws.

All the men, including the prime accused and a minor, were nabbed within few days of the incident.

The prime accused, Ram Singh, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in the Tihar Jail days after the trial began.

The juvenile, who was said to be the most brutal of the attackers, was put in a correctional home for three years and later released. The remaining four men were convicted for the crime on September 13, 2013 and were hanged on Friday in South Asia's largest prison complex. With this, India's daughter has finally got justice.

Capital punishment like this is a must in certain crimes. It may not end crimes..but it will create "fear" in their heart before committing a heinous crime like this. Otherwise there would have been more such type of rapes from such fourth graded cannibals...we wont understand the pain of nirbhayas family'member or of her lover. Because it happened somewhere far away and not in our families..

That fifth one who was a juvenile once upon a time is an adult now. That monster is no more juvenile now'. He is the one who committed terrible acts on that girl whom we call today as Juve......!

Arrest him and give him severe punishment through out his life if can't hang him. If he knows to perform cruel and devilish acts at that time..means he is able to go through severe punishment also. Cut off his hands which were used to....... .........😪😪😪may the soul of Nirbhaya rest in peace.... extending condolences to her bereaved family especially to her mom...

Justice delivered but.... Wasn't it too late... A mother, a family, a father had to wait for 7yrs.. once the guilt was prooved, they shod have been hanged longed time ago.. it was a sizzling case then and every one was waiting for thier death sentence... But this took long yrs and the case is become like scribbling page, many raped after that..
This punishment was only one breath gone in one shot...
According to me such boys ... Should be cut so that others will think for a second time before raping and these boys will have life long guiltiness of thier 1 act done which will make them suffer till end of thier lives that they can't become a dad from thier own blood...

There is no chance for a second life in this crime... Major or minor...

    Correct Sir...

All rapists should be awarded capital punishment.

Even amongst the clergy there are wolves in sheep clothing. Such clergy spoil the name of their religions. All such beasts should be tracked down and dragged to the gallows. Never spare such monsters.. whether a clergy, or a politician or a bureaucrat. In a few cases I have read a dad rapes his own daughter.. Eeew! Do not spare anyone.

Recently I saw a WhatsApp video wherein four gang-rapists are publicly beheaded in some foreign country. It was horrendous. But monsters and beasts actually deserve such punishment.

"Hang the Rapists" should be the slogan.
