Cafes, bars, beauty parlours, hair salons to shut in Lucknow

Lucknow, March 20 (IANS): The Lucknow administration on Friday announced the closure of all cafes, bars, hair salons and beauty parlours in the state capital in view of the increasing threat of coronavirus.

District Magistrate Abhishek Prakash ordered the closure with immediate effect. He said that the order would remain in effect till March 31.

With this order, Lucknow has almost completely shutdown, barring government offices, banks and private establishments which still remain open.

The state government has not yet announced the 'work from home' concept.

"The closing of the financial year is taking place and work almost doubles during this period. We cannot afford to let the employees stay back because not all of them are connected with computers," said a senior official.
