Desist from spreading rumours: Punjab CM

Chandigarh, March 20 (IANS): Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Friday warned anti-social elements to desist from spreading rumours and creating coronavirus scare.

Refuting social media reports on shutting Internet services in the state, the Chief Minister requested people not to share unsubstantiated news and information as it may create unnecessary panic.

"The following content that claims @PunjabGovtIndia is shutting down Internet services is fake & action will be taken against anyone involved in spreading misleading information," he tweeted.

Warning of a worsening COVID-19 crisis in the country, Amarinder Singh on Thursday urged the Central government to allow private hospitals and labs to conduct tests in order to ensure access for all the people.

The state has reported three COVID-19 positive cases.
