COVID-19: Gurugram condominium on lockdown after 2 suspect cases


Gurugram, March 20 (IANS): The scare of coronavirus has created extreme panic in an upscale Laburnum condominium complex of Gurugram on Friday after two more suspects had symptoms of the disease. With this, the residents of complex have decided to lock down the premises.

The victims are a husband and wife living who returned from England on Tuesday and are under quarantine in close monitoring of district health department.

In an internal e-mail, the residents themselves have decided to lockdown Laburnum complex.

"We are in lockdown and everyone here is taking due precautions. Most condominiums are under the threat given the frequent overseas travel of corporate guys and their kids returning from USA, UK etc," a resident said requesting anonymity.

Dr Ram Prakash Jha, the incharge of health team in Gurugram said that they have symptoms of coronavirus but it is not confirmed yet.

"We have sent the blood samples of both husband and wife and reports expected to come in next few days. Till the time, they are under close observation of our health team," Jha said.

Earlier in the morning, Ranjeet Bhargava, a resident of this society uploaded the update about the couple on Twitter).

"Unfortunately, we have the first positive case of Covid-19 in Laburnum. The couple stay in Tower 3 of fourth floor. The woman has been found positive. She along with her husband came back from UK three days ago," Bhargava wrote.

So far, Gurugram health department has been scanned 3,598 suspects and 4 of them were found positive. On Friday health officials took 41 blood samples which is the highest so far in one day. A total of 81 samples have been collected so far and 31 of them were found negative.

The four positive cases were reported from sector 9A, Palam Vihar and Sector 50 Nirvana Country.
